Residential Support Worker (Children’s Home)

Salary: £21,453 - £22,347 per annum (+ benefits + overtime + weekend enhancements)

Seashell is a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secure environment for children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges from across the UK.

We have 17 home-from-home, four bedroomed houses for children and young people who need residential support. We can provide 24-hour care, weekly and termly boarding, and 52-week placement for individuals aged 3-25 years.

This opportunity is to support our children who are up to 18 years old. All our homes are based on our one site and so no travel is required.

About you…

We are looking for someone who is resilient to join our team. You’ll have amazing days, fun days but in this role you’ll also have tough, challenging days.

We’re also looking for flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change, no two days are the same when you are working with people!

Experience is not essential for this position as we offer training and development support and good career progression opportunities to start/develop your career in social care if you share our values of Integrity, Innovation & Involvement.

Role Summary

  • You’ll work a rolling rota with shifts over 7 days, no nights (every other weekend with enhanced pay rates)
  • You’ll get up to 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) in your first year, rising to 38 days (including bank holidays) with length of service
  • Support to complete a Level 4 diploma in Working with Children, Young People & Families Practitioner qualification within 2 years of joining
  • Working one-to-one providing daily care and support for our children including supporting their personal care needs, mobility, daily routine, communication, teaching and encouraging independence skills, learning and access to leisure activities
  • Challenging behaviours will present in these roles, so to fully support our young people, candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment
